Kendra Binney was raised in a small mountain town with no shoe stores. Most of her time was spent barefoot, treading through the minuscule world of spiders, snakes and all things hiding in the grass. She transfers this closeness with the small and obscure into her paintings. Through layers of colour and texture, she illustrates a world of magical landscapes filled with lush flora and whimsical characters. Seen through pastel washes and her works evoke both nostalgia and longing. They are at once gentle and mysterious, curious and familiar. Though her paintings have been exhibited, sold, and published around the world, Kendra herself spends most days in a small studio in Portland, Oregon in the USA. There she paints, daydreams, and paints some more.
This is a panel from the Serenity collection.
It is a lovely view of a valley with river winding through, with pine tree and flowers in the foreground, while overhead soars an eagle.
It would make a wall hanging, could be incorporated into a quilt, perhaps bordered with some of the coordinating fabrics.
How about making a throw for the sofa, and using as a lap quilt on chilly evenings?
Someone suggested making a floor cushion too – lots of possibilities with this.
100% cotton
Panel measures 44 x 24 inches.
