Exciting news! The Corner Patch is expanding into a new shop unit and we’ll also be selling sewing machines

It is going to be a very short newsletter this time.

I just wanted to share some exciting news with you – I have this week been approved to be a retailer for Janome sewing machines, and on January 4th 2023, will be opening Staffordshire Sewing Machines in the shop unit next door to The Corner Patch in The Arcade, Eccleshall.

Janome are a long-established sewing machine manufacturer. The company was set up 101 years ago. They previously traded in the UK under the name New Home. We use their machines in our workroom and I have a Janome sewing machine (the fabulous Atelier 7), and an overlocker (the Air Threader) at home. I have always found their customer service to be excellent and am proud to be offering their machines.

Over the past few years, I have heard many comments from customers bemoaning that there is nowhere locally to ‘try before you buy’. Recently the shop unit next to The Corner Patch became available and I’ve had the Christmas Pop-Up shop in there for the past few months. I knew that the opportunity of taking over this space on a permanent basis was too good to miss. Now I am an approved Janome retailer you will be able to come and spend time viewing a wide selection of their machines, have a personal demonstration and try them out for yourself while we make you a cup of tea or coffee. There are machines for all budgets, so we look to helping you find a machine with the features you want, at a price you can afford.

At the moment we are very busy fitting out the space to be able to display a range of machines and creating some storage space. It is fortunate that my husband Alan has always enjoyed building things, and I have found plenty for him to build this week! I also need to organise some signage, publicity, sort out staff rotas, and plan the programme of workshops for 2023 – so many things to think about. Hence the brief newsletter this time.

Machines will start arriving in the next few weeks and we are planning a formal opening of the new shop to coincide with The Corner Patch re-opening after the Christmas and New Year break on 4th January. We will also be stocking a range of machine accessories, needles, bobbins, and any Janome products can be ordered on request.

Janome has offers on selected machines until 31st December. So, if you are planning to buy a machine before Christmas, do get in touch to see if we can help you take advantage of these reductions. But please note that The Corner Patch will be closing for Christmas at 5pm on Saturday 17th December and we will not be able to respond to any queries after that date.

Meanwhile Christmas fabrics are still available, we have had deliveries of some new fabrics, and we will be opening on 4th January with a New Year SALE.
